Argan Oil: The One Ritual That Never Left Me
I’ve used argan oil for as long as I can remember. It has been the one constant in my life, as natural to me as brushing my teeth or washing my face. No matter how much changed around me, this ritual stayed.
In 2022, I cut my hair into a very short bob. My hair had been through everything imaginable: dyed multiple times, bleached more than it ever deserved, neglected during phases when I simply didn’t care. And a part of me felt guilty because it didn’t honor the years my mother spent carefully oiling my hair, braiding it, and washing it the next day.
We didn’t have a hamam in our home in Belgium like she did in Morocco, but she made sure I never lost that experience. Those evenings warm water, steam, her hands gently working through my hair were our quiet way of bonding. Even now, every once in a while, I ask her to scrub my back. Not because I can’t reach, but because for a moment, I get to feel close to her again. It was our version of girls’ time.
And one day, I hope to share that same ritual with Meya. After cutting my hair short, I started testing our Argan Elixir on myself.
